Oh the headaches and loss of sleep over assigned seating. This is normally such a chore. I do believe we have a SOLUTION. What I have suggested to my brides is that they seat bridal party & their dates, parents and grandparents at the tables closest to them. If they have other close family, they can also assign them seating. With the rest of the guests, I suggest putting all the names in a hat and drawing out enough to fit each table. This allows guest to meet and speak to new people, find out where they are from and how they know the bride or groom. We have even made up questions and put them on the plate – one question per person, to ask the guests at their tables. This is a fun interactive way to learn about each other, have some fun, and take a huge burden off of the bride.

Simplify RSVP Cards

RSVP and seating arrangements can be such a hardship on brides. To avoid confusion on the RSVP cards, I suggest numbering the back of them and doing a corresponding sheet to match them to. Say card #1 is for John & Mary Adams and it is for only the two of them. Alphabetize a sheet with the name of the guest – the number on the back of their card and how many guests that card corresponds to. This way if John and Mary send back a card that says 4 attending, you can call them, or have your planner call them, to explain the invite was for only 2 guests. This will help you keep your numbers in tact. Also some people do not fill out the RSVP card with a name, so if the number is on the back, you can see who sent the card and proceed. I have made a promise to myself that I would blog at least every other week to try and give brides some great tips on saving time and money. This weeks tip is on using flowers in arrangements. As we all know, wedding flowers can be one of your biggest expenses, but there are also the biggest statement. When doing large arrangements for the church, ask for large flowers that take up space without being too expensive. Hydrangeas and Lilies are great for this. If you need a colored hydrangea, ask to have the white hydrangea ordered and they can be sprayed with floral spray to match any color you want. A White Hydrangea will cost your florist about $1.50 where as the green or red can cost as much as $5.00 – before they mark it up to charge you. By using large blooms, you will have a beautiful arrangement, at half the cost of smaller flowers
